Richards Family, we have a wounded Warrior in 6th grade, Mason Avery, who is fighting for his life. Mason started out this school year at Richards but has been hospital & homebound since October. Doctors have diagnosed Mason with a very rare & complex blood disorder called Warm Auto-Immune Hemolytic Anemia. He is also suffering from DVTs in his lungs and multiple pulmonary embolisms. Mason is suffering from multiple organ infections but is not yet stable enough for surgeries. Several times, he has needed to be airlifted to CHOA for urgent, life-threatening conditions.
