RICHARDS MIDDLE SCHOOL PTA
Meet The Executive Committee Candidates

Candidate 1 for President
Angela Wells
My name is Angela Wells and I will have a 6th and a 7th grader at Richards for the 2023-24 school year. During the 2022-23 school year, I have participated in various PTA activities including helping to plan and execute daily Staff Appreciation Week events, Back to School Breakfast, meeting with the Spirit Wear vendor, writing birthday cards and distributing birthday treats to staff, and assisting with testing treat distribution. During my time serving in the building this year, I have had numerous opportunities to interact with the staff and begin building trust.
I have served on the RMS Parent Committee this year, sharing parental perspectives with RMS and MCSD administrators where I advocated for smaller class sizes, consistent sub coverage for teachers, and a safe learning environment for all of our children. For six years, I have served as a Room Rep at Britt David, demonstrating the ability to manage funds, follow school protocols, and execute meaningful activities for students and staff. I believe that my background as an educator and coach provide unique insight to both the educator and student experiences, as well as my own as a mother of three.
My flexible schedule allows me to meet with and serve administration and staff during their workday. I enjoy getting to know other RMS families and working alongside those I have had the opportunity to build relationships with at the elementary level. My strong organizational skills will be a great asset, as I lead the board in meetings, communicate with staff and PTA members, and in timely implementation of plans. I believe that recruiting and fundraising in creative new ways will be paramount for our school to effectively impact the staff and students in a positive way.
My top priorities, if chosen to serve as the Richards PTA President, would be to 1) Cultivate a sense of community amongst RMS families, students, and staff; 2) Ongoing observation and surveying the daily and annual operations/events in order to efficiently address the most pressing issues affecting the RMS constituents; 3)To raise ample funds to support and enhance the staff and student experience at Richards. If chosen, I look forward to working with many RMS families, listening to others' opinions, problem solving, and working hard to best meet the needs of those who instruct and care for our children on a daily basis. I am confident that alongside our new principal, Dr. Wizzard, we can build upon the foundation that our current and former PTA has laid. I look forward to growing the program to make Richards an engaging community of diverse learners and supportive families, cohesively committed to their students and educators.

Candidate 2 for President
Richa Dixit
With great enthusiasm and a deep sense of commitment, I wanted to express my desire to serve as your PTA President. I am grateful for the opportunity to outline my vision for our PTA and the positive impact we can make on our children's education and overall school experience.
First and foremost, let me assure you that as PTA President, I will be a strong advocate for every child in our school. I believe that each and every student deserves the best possible educational environment and the support necessary to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. It is my mission to work collaboratively with parents, teachers, administrators, and the community to ensure that our school provides a safe, inclusive, and nurturing atmosphere that fosters the holistic development of our children.
One of my primary goals as PTA President is to enhance communication and transparency between the school and parents. I recognize the importance of keeping parents well-informed about school activities, initiatives, and policies. I will strive to establish clear channels of communication, utilizing multiple platforms such as newsletters, social media, and regular parent meetings, to ensure that parents are actively engaged in their child's education and have the opportunity to provide valuable input and feedback.
Furthermore, I strongly believe in the power of collaboration. Our PTA is a community of passionate individuals who share a common goal—the well-being and success of our children. I will encourage and facilitate meaningful collaboration among parents, teachers, and administrators, promoting open dialogue, active involvement, and mutual respect. Together, we can harness our collective strengths, experiences, and resources to address challenges, implement innovative ideas, and create enriching experiences for our children.
In addition, I am committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within our PTA and the school at large. Every child deserves an education that values and celebrates their unique backgrounds, cultures, and abilities. I will work tirelessly to ensure that our PTA reflects the diversity of our community and that all voices are heard and respected. By fostering an inclusive environment, we can create a strong foundation for our children to develop into compassionate and empathetic individuals who are prepared to thrive in a diverse world.
Finally, I recognize that fundraising plays a crucial role in supporting various educational initiatives and extracurricular activities. As PTA President, I will actively seek out innovative fundraising ideas, building upon successful strategies while also exploring new avenues. However, I firmly believe that fundraising should be more than just a means to an end. It should be an opportunity to strengthen the sense of community, involving students, parents, and teachers alike in fun and engaging activities that contribute to the overall well-being of our school.
In conclusion, I am deeply passionate about our children's education and the vital role that parents, teachers, and the community play in shaping their futures. If given the honor to serve as your PTA President, I promise to lead with integrity, transparency, and a collaborative spirit. Together, we can create an educational environment that fosters the growth, happiness, and success of every child in our school. Thank you for your trust and consideration.

Candidate 3 for President
Leslie Johnson
My name is Leslie Johnson and I am a single mother of one daughter, Gabrielle “Gabby” Williams, who will be attending Richards again next year, in the 7th grade. I have been employed at Anthem BCSGA for 21 years. I have a Customer Service background and I am currently a Business Analyst Specialist. I am also a full-time student at Strayer University where I am pursuing my BA degree in Business Administration in Healthcare Management.
I am interested in serving as the PTA President at Richards Middle School. I have the experience needed to fill the position. I was the PTA President for Hannan Elementary in 2021-2022 and had a wonderful Executive Board that I worked with. With the help of the Council and Georgia PTA, we were able to return Hannan’s PTA back into good standing. We were also given the tools and training to ensure that Hannan continues to operate according to the ByLaws. Because of that, we were able to have 4 successful fundraisers, raising over $12,000 for the school year, and were able to provide items for the music and art departments. We helped the Sara Spano Clothing Bank and also provided activities and programs for the students.
I am very passionate about PTA and was so happy to participate in the most recent successful fundraiser here at Richards and I am eager to help more. I have worked closely with the Muscogee County Council of PTAs and have learned a lot. There are so many programs and resources available through PTA that will benefit the parents, teachers, and students, including the National PTA Reflections Art Program. Richards has had so many awards and recognitions for many years on a Council, State, and National PTA level and I would like to bring that back this coming school year.
I am interested in this position because I have a passion to serve others and I enjoy working with parents, teachers, and students. I am very active in our community, supporting many non-profit organizations and churches, and I am always willing to give a helping hand to those in need. I have the skills to build a team, receive feedback, and incorporate ideas to the benefit of this PTA. I want to help foster participation in our parents and our students so they can learn to love volunteering. I love to be an example for Gabby and show her the love I have for serving. I enjoy spending time with her, my friends, and my family. I enjoy cooking, reading, traveling, the beach, and taking an occasional cruise vacation.

Treasurer
Ann Roberts
My name is Ann Roberts and I would like to serve the Richards PTA as Treasurer. I have been involved with the PTA and school support for several years. I served in multiple room mom and volunteer positions prior to middle school and have been involved with the RMS PTA in a support capacity this year, serving on a couple of committees and volunteering for different initiatives I have supported student education as a financial literacy coach for Downtown Elementary for several years and a room rep through the Partners in Education program.
